Charlie Brear the brand has been with us from the very start and we love it as much as you do: every year a lot of our brides fall in love with a wonderful design by Charlie. Her wedding dresses are modern, minimal, elegant and timeless. The materials she selects are a dream – they give a feeling of ease and are so pleasant to wear. Wedding dresses to look and feel your best, to feel comfortable and dance the night away! Charlie was kind enough to take the time to answer some of our questions.
1. Describe yourself in 3 words.
Determined, Dreamer, Over Romantic.
2. Why bridal?
I found myself selling off vintage wedding dresses sourced for a music video, whilst I was working as a Fashion Stylist, back in 2005. This motivated me to launch my own bridal wear company, sourcing & selling one-off original vintage gowns. Over the following 5 years, I then began designing a small capsule collection of dresses and styling pieces that could be used to create many different looks. By 2011, we took the original concept to wholesale retailers, it was an immediate success and created a new market of interchangeable looks in boutiques across the world.
3. What do you care most about when it comes to your work?
We are passionate about reducing our carbon footprint in an industry where many of our creations may only be worn once. Our whole design process starts in London, UK, where we work closely with 3 amazing family-run factories. We source our fabrics from specialist suppliers in the UK and look to France and Italy for exquisite laces. Manufacturing locally helps us maintain a sustainable business that narrows waste to the smallest level and keeps our carbon footprint as low as possible. We have recently partnered with One Tree Planted meaning every Charlie Brear dress ordered, we will donate a tree to be planted.
4. How would you describe the Charlie Brear bride?
We attract spirited modern brides who want their wedding dresses to be as unique as they are.
5. What inspires you?
Our brides.
6. Who is your personal style icon?
My mother.
7. Which is your personal favorite design (current or ov all time)?
Our Seraphine Dress.
8. What styling advice would you give to every bride?
Come with an open mind and be willing to try things you wouldn’t usually try, you may surprise yourself.
